Palmar de Aramara is the colonia located on the west side of the main thoroughfare coming in from the airport.  It is adjacent to the famous Zone.  While the Hotel Zone could be considered modern contemporary, Palmar de Aramara is definitely traditional. If you want to immerse yourself in the Mexican culture, this is the place to be.

Palmar de Aramara is a 10 minute or less drive to the airport, 5 minutes from the marina, and a 10 minute or less walk to the beach.

One of the best municipal markets in town takes up a full city block and offers everything you need.  Meat, fish, seafood, fruit, vegetables, dairy, every day staples and, of course, freshly made tortillas.  It is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to just before 4:00 p.m.

Both inside and outside of the market are family restaurants serving a variety of foods.  You can find Mexican, Asian, Italian and much more.

Across the street from the market are some of the best taco stands in town offering birria, pastor, asada and many more.

A block to the south is the ice cream shop, La Nieveria, where every flavor is homemade. 

Further south is the family-run bakery, La Bolleria.

Across the block from the market is Plaza Palmar de Aramara with businesses offering many services ranging from health and beauty to laundry and tailoring, fabrics and even a local dollar store.

Most businesses in Palmar de Aramara are family operated, so if supporting the community is important to you this is the place to be.  And if you are looking for more modern amenities, Walmart, Sams Club, Galerias Mall and Chedraui are all a short walk away.
